Austin Belle - Email Interview

KK:       You guys have been at this separately for a while now, how did you guys get together, especially since you are both from different backgrounds in music?

AB:       Well contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t a Craigslist ad one late Friday night ha.  A woman Stacey was working with in her solo career was working with me in State of Shock, she asked if I’d be interested in writing with her.  We got together and had a great chemistry.  She asked me to be her touring guitar player in her solo project.  So I agreed and we did that for about 2 years.  When her touring was over, it came time for her to do a new record, and there was a lot of feedback, about how well we worked together.  So basically she fought tooth and nail to keep it about her, but, we definitely are better, together ha.

KK:       Where did you come up with the name Austin Belle? It is very unique.

AB:       Well, Stacey is a beautiful woman, so the ‘Belle’ portion of the name was easy.  I needed a cool association, as well, so I was hunting around Urban Dictionary one day, and I read the definition of ‘Austin’ and I thought it was pretty fitting.  So there began Austin Belle.

KK:       I’ve been hearing Austin Belle on the radio a ton lately, but for those who have not yet heard  your sound, how would you describe it to them?

AB:       We are two people who really love what we do.  We take our careers seriously but we love to have a good time.  We wrote a record that reflects that.  There’s turn it up, driving songs, break up and drinking songs and probably the most emotional song we have wrote is on the record.  It’s called ‘Back Where We Belong’  and it’s our story of past Love and Loss.  We are very proud of it, and the whole record.

KK:       You’re gearing up right now to release your debut EP, Just Drive, in about a week, what can fans expect to hear on that EP?

AB:       They are going to hear songs about experiences we’ve had, good and bad.  They are definitely going to want to throw it in their truck or car, crank it up and ‘Just Drive’, hence the name of the record.

KK:       I was on your Facebook page and website, and saw that you guys are asking for stories, what is that all about?

AB:       This started when we finished writing ‘Back Where We Belong’.  It was a very hard song for us to write, but it really helped with the healing in our two situations.  So we know, there are so many people in similar situations, that we wanted to give people the chance to share their own stories.  As we always say, ‘There is no greater healing and strength, in being honest through song!’

KK:       When are fans going to get a chance to see you on the road?

AB:       We have a few dates in British Columbia in September, and are working on some details for Ontario dates through October.  People can download our FREE Austin Belle App, and check us out at austinbelle.com to stay connected with everything going on.  Thanks for your time.  We appreciate it!
